Compact cordless die grinder for fabrication, automotive repair, weld preparation and precision metal finishing in restricted working areas
The DeWalt DCG420N-XJ is an 18V XR Compact cordless die grinder built around a 32 mm brushless motor, producing up to 447 MWO while maintaining a narrow inline body for access around fabrication assemblies, vehicle components and confined installations. Four selectable speed settings provide 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 and 24,500 rpm, supplemented by variable trigger control to match rotational speed to the mounted abrasive or cutting accessory. An electronic brake stops the accessory rapidly after the trigger is released, while the electronic clutch reduces kickback reaction if the accessory pinches or stalls.
The DCG420N-XJ is designed for professional grinding, deburring, weld dressing, surface preparation and detailed metal finishing where a conventional angle grinder is too large. Both 6 mm and 1/4-inch collets are supplied, increasing compatibility with commonly used die-grinder accessories, while the spindle lock simplifies accessory changes. An integrated LED work light improves visibility around the cutting area, and internal mesh screens help restrict dust and debris entering the motor and electronics. As an N-series body-only machine, this configuration contains no battery or charger and integrates directly into an existing DeWalt 18V XR battery system.
