The Makita DBO381ZU finishing sander is designed for controlled surface preparation and fine finishing tasks where cordless mobility and efficient dust extraction are required. Powered by the Makita 18V LXT lithium-ion platform, the sander incorporates a brushless motor delivering variable orbit speeds from 4,000 to 12,000 min⁻¹ with a 2.0 mm orbit diameter for consistent finishing performance on timber, veneered panels, painted surfaces and composite materials. The 93 x 228 mm sanding base supports standard 1/3 sheet abrasive paper formats commonly used in woodworking and joinery applications.

The integrated AWS Auto-start Wireless System allows Bluetooth communication with compatible Makita dust extractors for automatic vacuum activation during sanding operations, improving dust management and reducing airborne particles in workshop environments. The detachable front grip improves access during corner sanding and confined finishing work, while the large rubberised clamping lever simplifies abrasive paper installation and replacement. A high-capacity dust collection bag with integrated vacuum adaptor further improves extraction efficiency during mobile operation without a dust extractor connected.
