The Makita DCO181Z is a compact cordless drywall cutter powered by the Makita 18V LXT battery platform and equipped with a high-efficiency brushless motor delivering a no-load speed of 32,000 rpm. Designed for precision cutting of plasterboard and drywall, it produces clean openings for electrical boxes, lighting fixtures, ventilation outlets and pipe penetrations. The lightweight design improves manoeuvrability during overhead work while maintaining excellent control for freehand cutting.
A key feature of the DCO181Z is Makita’s Auto-start Wireless System (AWS), allowing Bluetooth communication with compatible Makita dust extractors so extraction starts and stops automatically with the tool. Combined with the optional dust nozzle, this significantly reduces airborne dust during drywall installation. Additional professional features include Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) for improved resistance to dust and moisture, an electric brake for increased safety, LED job light, lock-on slide switch for continuous operation and Makita’s battery protection system against overload, over-discharge and overheating.
